Soulsteppa is a dub producer and selectah from Red-i Soundsystem based in Manila, Philippines. For the past few years she has been studying dub production and analog dub mixing. She is also part of the Irie Sunday crew that has been running their notorious weekly Reggae Dub bashment in Manila since 2010. Her first vinyl release "What Mek Rasta" is a killer 7 inch heavyweight vinyl featuring conscious chants by Sistah Lore and warrior style drums with a heavy bassline. Lookout for Soulsteppa's other projects coming out in 2022.

RED I

Red-I, a DJ/Producer and founding member of B-Side, Black Market and Irie Sunday Manila is one of the corner stones of the local music scene in the Philippines. His sound is heavily influenced by Roots, Dub, Reggae and bass weight. In 2012 he dropped his first album, Jahdgement Day, which was the first vinyl to be released in the Philippines since the late 1980's. Since then he has also released numerous beat tapes & mix tapes and had been producing and releasing different projects with vocalists and emcees in the local and international scene. He has also toured Asia many times and did a Europe tour in 2017. He is also signed to to Dub Temple Records in Australia and SVBKVLT label from Shanghai and OTO records in Japan.

Him and his crew also run a local venue/club called Black Market which is a platform for the local beat makers and producers in local scene. He is also one of the creators of B-Side, which is a home from the local band / reggae scene and venue for Irie Sunday. Since 2010, Irie Sunday has become not only Manila's most consistent weekly reggae event but is also recognized as one of S.E. Asia's best reggae party according to a handful of reggae djs/ musicians and event promoters that has experienced it. This weekly bashment consists of live performances and DJ sets.

Unlike most reggae events in Manila, Irie Sunday not only exposes live reggae bands, but also has a focus on spreading the Deejay/selecta and sound system & vinyl culture. Red-i has played alongside, Johnny Osbourne, Ranking Joe, Macka B, Sister Nancy,  Ziggy Marley, Daddy Freddy, Tippa Irie, General Levy, Brother Culture, Million Styles, Echo Ranks, Vibronics, Iration Steppas, Mungo's Hi-Fi, The Bug, Kode 9, RSD,  Nas, Mobb Deep, Dj Premier, Dj Krush, Dj QBert, D Styles, J Rocc, Dj Nu-Mark, The Gaslamp Killer, Onra, Samiyam, Teebs, Tokimonsta and More.

RAS TARO

RAS TARO

Ras Taro is a originally a trained classical guitarist who under his father’s tutelage has explored many musical genres and has performed many years as a live musician in different bands and ensembles.

​When Ras Taro first discovered reggae and dub, he describes the feeling as if he had been “struck by lightning”. He immediately fell deeply in love with the culture and the sound originally from Jamaica.

Now, Ras Taro is a reggae MC based in Manila. He often goes abroad to perform in countries such as Japan, Hong Kong (China), Vietnam, Cambodia,Thailand and had also toured in Europe with Red-I sound. He has won the annual ‘Bob Marley Song Writing Contest’ in Japan where he has also performed at several events.

Ras Taro has performed and collaborated with a long list of artists such as; Tippa Irie, RSD, Daddy Freedy, Brother Culture, Kode 9, DJ Shortkut, DJ Krush, DJ Baku, Kireek, Kuranaka 1945, Kojie(Mighty Crown), Part2style, Cian Fin, Asian Dub Foundation, Million Style, Mongus Hifi , Chali P and many more.

Ras Taro also works as an organizer of Ichiban Music Festival that is held twice a year in Manila. He can often be seen performing at prolific clubs in Manila including Black market and B-side’s "Irie Sunday". He is known for his ability to freestyle in a multitude of languages from Japanese, Spanish, English to Tagalog! Ras Taro is an MC who can truly make the crowd wind up their waist anyplace, anywhere, anytime! Since 2018 he released his first single on vinyl on Oto Records: ‘Natty Dread I Beat’ as a label co-founder and in Red I’s 2nd Album “For Sound Power”, he collaborated with the song “Moving”.

King Spade

King Spade

King Spade is an MC based in Mactan Island Cebu, Philippines. He started his musical journey as a bass player of quite a few bands in Cebu, however, his latest band Powerspoonz which has a fusion of rock, reggae, and dancehall sound got him into the local reggae scene. After the band’s 2nd album Inna Stereo was released, he decided to quit the band and move forward as an MC, pick up the microphone & focus on reggae, dub, and conscious music. He linked up with Legendary Dub/Reggae producer Red-I Sound Manila to work on some old conscious dub tunes and ended up releasing Kings Music EP on Nov. 9, 2019.
